Middle School Wrestling Tournament

Dear Friends,

On January 3, 2009, St. Pius will host a middle school wrestling tournament. This will be the first annual "Carl Stephen Wright Memorial Wrestling Tournament".

Carl was a St. Pius graduate and a member/captain/state qualifier of the Pius Wrestling team.  Carl passed away 3 years ago at the age of 27. Since then, family members have kept his spirit alive through a CSW memorial foundation. The foundation sponsors several events (annual clay shoot in april and annual golf tournament on his birthday in december) to raise money for the foundation. The foundation donates the money raised to causes that were important to Carl (Outward Bound, The future of Hunting, an outdoor classroom, and most recently the St. Pius wrestling program).

Carl had a special place in his heart for children. He worked with youths in his undergraduate program at Georgia Southern. To continue Carl's spirit we are now adding a wrestling tournament to our list of events the foundation will sponsor.

We would be honored to have your teams come and join us for our first "Carl Stephen Wright Memorial Wrestling Tournament" on Jan. 3rd 2009 at St. Pius High School. It will be an individual tournament with two wrestlers allowed per school per weight class. Medal will be given for the top three finishers.
